DQM first professions in Thailand

BANGKOK: 22 May 2012 -- Saturday 19 May 2012 was one of the most important days for the Salesian Family in Thailand. At Phra Mae Maree Sathorn School (the school run by the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary), 5 young girls made their first profession in the Institute. Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil (Bishop of Suratthani Diocese), Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen (Bishop of Ratchaburi Diocese), and Bishop Joseph Chusak Sirisut (Bishop of Nakhon Ratchasima Diocese) conclebrated, along with 30 priests and 500 faithful.

The young girls are as follows:
1. Theresa SOMYING SANYALAK
2. Theresa RAWIWAN BUAKHARN
3. Theresa PUNWILAI WONGSIT
4. Agnes PRANEE SEABSAKWONG
5. Mary AREE CHOKAROON

During the homily, Bishop Prathan gave the example of Jeremiah's life. God called him, but he felt that he was not prepared. However, He gave him His Word and strength to proclaim the good news. Several times we have the same feeling of the Prophet. We feel that we are not good; we are not ready to fulfill His mission; we are not prepared, etc. Let us be sure that God is always with us and He will grant us his blessings, strength and gifts so that we can follow Him and do His will.

These 5 young girls have been the candidates of the Institute since before the division of the congregation. After the Institute was settled up, the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary continued the formation of the members. After their novitiate, they make their first profession today.

The institute of Daughters of the Queenship of Mary is a secular institute of diocesan right founded in the spirit of the Apostolic Constitution Provida Mater Ecclesia of Pope Pius XII, issued on 2 February 1947.

It was canonically approved by the Archbishop of Bangkok on 3 December 1954.
This aspect of consecrated secular life is a special charism already expressed in the first Constitutions (1956) and confirmed in the revised Constitutions (1982 and 1986).

The institute of the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary dedicates itself to pastoral work with youth.

This is the special commitment left to them by their founder Fr Carlo Della Torre. He himself opened new schools so that the sisters could carry out their educative mission, forming the outlook and Christian life of the young.
