World - Sao Paolo, Brazil, 7 December 2020 -- On 5 December 2020 (Saturday) three Vietnamese missionaries to priesthood were ordained in the Sao Paolo SDB Theologate chapel of St John Bosco (Alto Da Lapa) by SDB bishop emeritus of Tubarao diocese, Dom Hilario Moser. During the simple, well animated and heartfelt liturgy, due to Covid19 restrictions only the Salesians of Don Bosco and a few closer Salesian family members took part, including the SDB provincials of Sao Paolo (Fr Justo Ernesto Piccinini), Campo Grande (Fr Ricardo Carlos) and Manaus (Fr Jefferson Luis Da Silva Santos).

Fr Bartolomeo Nguyen Quang Lam Son and Fr John Baptist Nguyen Duy Tan belong to the Brazil - Manaus province in the North West (BMA) with headquarters in Manaus, and Fr Joseph Tran Van Lich belongs to the Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG) located in the South-West of this large country. They were sent by the Rector Major to Brazil as missionaries ad gentes in 2012 (BMA) and 2014 (BCG), respectively.

The whole ordination Eucharist was live streamed both in Portuguese and thanks to Fr. Joseph Tran (BMA province) also in a Vietnamese commentary - translation.

The new priests have chosen as their ordination motto: "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me." (1 Cor 15,10b). We congratulate and pray, wishing them to work for their whole life with the grace of God!

At presen, in Brazil there are 6 SDB provinces with 629 professed Salesians (including 23 bishops) and 23 novices - living in 92 canonical communities (update on January 1, 2020). Among them are also two EAO Salesian Brothers (Br Jomar from FIN and Br. Long from VIE) and five EAO Salesian priests (4 in BMA and one in BCG province).
