5270(IV)_First and final professions, Caritas Sisters in Japan

Three new Caritas Sisters of Jesus in Japan

Tokyo - Suginam, Japan, 10 December 2019 -- 8 December 2019 was a great feast and joyful day in Tokyo - Suginami for the whole Japan Province of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus. Two sisters (Sr. Agatha and Sr. Nativita Maria - both Japanese) made their final profession (perpetual vows) and three novices (Sr. Maria Assunta, Sr. Giuseppina and Sr. Teresa - all Vietnamese) made their first religious profession.


The solemn Eucharist at which the Archbishop Emeritus of Tokyo Peter Okada was the main celebrant, started at 10 a.m. Amidst the crowded chapel of the Caritas Sisters Provincial house Cardinal Maeda of Osaka, SDB provincial of Japan Fr. Hamaguchi also concelebrated, and numerous sisters, their families and friends were present.


The religious profession event was full of emotion, joy, a prayerful climate for all participants. Sr. Teresia Furuki, Superior General of the Congregation received the vows.


The Caritas Sisters of Jesus are present in 16 countries from every continent, with the most recent missionary multi-cultural presence in North Uganda. There are four provinces (Japan, Korea-Seoul, Korea-Suwon and Korea-Gwangju) and other viceprovinces in Latin America (Brasile, Bolivia-Peru, Argentina) and other mission presences in Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Australia, Philippines, Germany and South Sudan.
