Xuan Hiep, Vietnam, 27 July 2019 -- In the spirit of thanksgiving to God, our Mother Mary, and Saint John Bosco, the Province of Salesian Don Bosco Vietnam - Mongolia rejoiced at the ordination of 8 new Salesian Priests on July 27, 2019 at Xuan Hiep Parish Church.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Thomas Aquinas Vu Dinh Hieu, bishop of Bui Chu diocese, along with Fr. Joseph Nguyen Van Quang SDB, Provincia, and other Salesian priests. Other distinguished guests included religious brothers and sisters of various congregations, parishioners, and benefactors.

The following eight deacons were ordained:

  • Deacon Joseph Bui Anh Dung, SDB
  • Deacon John Bosco Vu Tien Dung, SDB
  • Deacon Martino Pham Duc Huy, SDB
  • Deacon John Vianney K'Ju, SDB
  • Deacon Joseph Trinh Quoc Khanh, SDB
  • Deacon Joseph Do Phuc Thien, SDB
  • Deacon John B. Do Van Tien, SDB
  • Deacon PX. Tran Quoc Tuan, SDB

The Priesthood Ordination Mass represents a great gift bestowed upon us by our merciful God. Through the laying on of hands and the ordination by the Bishop, the new priests enter a new life in the service and love of humanity as an imitation of Jesus our Great Shepherd. In particular, the Salesian priests are called to live and serve in the footsteps of St. John Bosco.

The grace bestowed upon the 8 newly ordained priests constitutes a special joy to the entire congregation and the universal church at large. Furthermore, this represents a visible sign of God’s love that continues to abundantly pour forth onto the province, in particular to the youth in the mission of service and love of the Salesian Don Bosco.

May the grace of Salesian consecration always remind the new priests of their mission and responsibility to serve the youth in society as well as to live in gratitude to God during their life of consecration.
