Tarlac City, the Philippines, 30 November 2017 -- Annually the Salesians from all over Luzon gather for the Provincial Community Day. This is a day of gratitude, fraternity, and camaraderie among the sons of Don Bosco from the Philippine North Province (FIN). This year's province day was hosted by Don Bosco Technical Institute–Tarlac under the rectorship of Fr. Jerry Santos, SDB. “Cheers to you, my brother!” was the theme of the celebration. The program emphasized the milestones in the Salesian vocation journey whether it be as individual, as a community, and as a province.

The day rightly began with the Holy Mass presided over by Fr. John Andreu, SDB who is celebrating this year his golden presbyteral ordination anniversary and 60th year as a Salesian. In his homily he recalled God’s graciousness in his life as a Salesian and priest throughout these years.

The program that followed was held in the new auditorium where they had time for affirmation, entertainment, showed filial support, and celebrated in brotherly camaraderie their Salesian vocation. This year’s jubilarians were recognized and awarded with statues and plaques:

    60th anniversary of religious profession:

  • Fr. John Andreu, SDB
  • Br. Luigi Parolin, SDB
  • 50th anniversary of religious profession:

  • Fr. Angel Baldonado, SDB
  • Fr. Ben Cavestany, SDB
  • Fr. Ernie Cruz, SDB
  • Fr. Salvador Pablo, SDB
  • Fr. Richard Varela, SDB
  • 25th Anniversary of priesthood:

  • Fr. Paul Bicomong, SDB
  • Fr. Redentor Molina, SDB
  • Fr. Elis Santos, SDB

Towards the end of the morning program, FIN Provincial Superior, Fr. Paul Bicomong, SDB received the solidarity gift of each Salesian community which he has earmarked for the new mission frontier in Kuching, Malaysia. The sumptuous lunch was served at the lobby of the new building which was followed by the different indoor and ball games. The members of the Salesian Family, especially the students, alumni, and Salesian Cooperators of DBTI–Tarlac, were instrumental for the warm and familiar reception the Salesians received. It was a grace-filled day the Salesians truly felt each other’s company and oneness. Cheers to all our confreres!
