5345(II)_RIP: Brother Noel Hannabery SDB, AUL

Province Centre, Ascot Vale, Melbourne, 24 March 2020 -- An Australian Salesian Brother, Noel Hannabery, entered into Eternal Life on Monday 23rd March 2020, at Mercy Place in Parkville, Victoria. He had been a resident in Mercy Place retirement home in the past two years while being part of the Provincial Community in Ascot Vale that is only a short distance away.


Br Noel was 82 years of age and had been a professed religious for 63 years.


He was born in Essendon, an inner city suburb of Melbourne on April 30, 1938. As a 17 year old, Noel joined the Salesians, and made his First Profession as a Salesian Brother on 31st January 1957. As a Brother, he studied Computing at RMIT [Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology] in the 80s, and also completed Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science from Adelaide University in South Australia.


Br Noel was a prolific mathematician serving purely as a teacher at Salesian colleges in Brooklyn Park and Port Pirie in South Australia, and Bairnsdale in Victoria.


He was known as a simple, gentle and holy character who was always faithful to religious duties and loyal commitment to community life.


Eternal rest grant unto Noel, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace, amen!
