PACIFIC SDB AT U.S. COMMUNICATIONS CONGRESS

CHICAGO: 31st March -- Fr. Ambrose Pereira, Director of Catholic

Communications Honiara (Solomon Islands, Western Pacific) is attending the

Religious Communication Congress 2000 in Chicago, held around the theme:

Faith Stories in a Changing World.

Fr. Ambrose, after hearing from such persons as the Rev Jesse Jackson, and

attending on-site experiences of faith communities who know how to 'market

faith' in today's world, writes: "I am filled, not only physically from the

grand spread, but spiritually from the faith stories I have heard".

Fr. Ambrose is attending this conference as a Global Partner Participant, in

other words as the recipient of a scholarship given to young adults who can

benefit from exposure to Conferences such as this. In a few weeks time he

will be returning the the Western Pacific and will attend the UNDA_OCIC

Pacific Conference in Suva, Fiji, to be held at the Pacific Regional

Seminary. Younger Salesians in formation, resident in Suva, have been

invited to attend the wind-up to this conference which will open its doors

to others for the two final days in a study "Exploring the sacred through

the media".
