5114(III)_Bike with the blind

Bangkok, Thailand, 12 June 2019 -- The Foundation for the Blind in Thailand, under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, on the occasion of its 80th anniversary of foundation, organized the "Bike With the Blind" event under the theme 'Ride for Sharing'. Mr. Khan Prachuabmoh, the President of the Board of the Foundation for the Blind, under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, presided at this activity together with Fr Charles Velardo, SDB, a member of the Board of the Foundation and the activity head.


This activity was organized with the normally sighted people riding with the visually impaired in 4 regions - 6 provinces, starting with the first route in Chiangmai on 27 January 2019. From there, the activity came down to Nakorn Ratchasima Province on 10 February 2019, in Khon Kaen on 10 March 2019, in Chonburi Province on 12 May 2019, in Surat Thani Province on 9 June 2019 and in Bangkok on 7 July 2019. The main purpose of the activity was to showcase the ability of the blind to the general public, together with their various skills which they learned and were trained for. This was also an occasion for the normally sighted people to share their kindness by biking with the visually impaired, and build the right understanding and relationship in the society.


On the other hand, the Skills Development Center for the Blind, Pakkret, Nonthaburi Province under the care of the Salesian Congregation, and the Skills Training Center for Blind Women - Sampran, Nakorn Prathom Province run by the Salesian Sisters - these two are an integral part of the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand.
