465 Civil award for Fr Jose Carbonell
A CIVIL AWARD FOR FR. JOSE CARBONELL SDB

 JAKARTA: 7th March -- On March 6, 2001, the Salesian Family of the Vice Province of Indonesia-Timor was honored to have Rev. Fr. Jose Carbonell Llopis, SDB receive a civil award from King Juan Carlos of Spain.

 After the Embassy Chancellor read out the letter of commendation from the King of Spain, the Spanish Ambassador to Indonesia, His Excellency Antonio Segura Moris confered the Cross of Isabel La Catolica of Spain on Fr. Jose. This award is given to a son of Spain who has worked untiringly on behalf of youth. His service in the leadership of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Valencia-Spain, then 10 years in the Philippines and 16 years in Indonesia-Timor is praiseworthy. However, his most recent contribution was his role as a link for communication and assistance between Dili and Jakarta during and after East Timor’s sad days of destruction and violence in September 1999.

 In his acceptance speech, Fr. Jose thanked all those present in the ceremony  and highlighted the Salesian Congregation, collaborators and benefactors who share this award.

 The ceremony was held in the residence of the Spanish Ambassador to Indonesia. The Nuncio and the diplomatic corp of 11 other nations were present, including representatives of the Salesian Family, friends and benefactors.
