2308 Vietnamese Sister for CSM
austraLasia #2308

First Vietnamese Sister for the Sisters of Charity of Miyazaki.

TOKYO: 9th December 2008 -- On 8th December,  during a solemn, prayerful Eucharistic celebration at which the SDB Provincial Fr Orlando Puppo presided, Sr. Maria Michaela Huyng Thi Thu Ha, made her first profession, thus becoming the first Vietnamese Sister for the Sisters of Charity of Miyazaki.
The ceremony took place in Tokyo in the chapel at the Congregation's General House, and many of the Vietnamese community in Japan were in attendance.
Sr. Maria Michaela came to japan from Vietnam six years ago, and before this moment of her profession had to overcome difficulties such as learning the rather demanding Japanese language. Sadly her mother died in October, nor was it possible for other relatives to be present for the ceremony, but the strong presence of the Japanese Salesian Family gave her good reason for happiness on the day of profession.
Her fellow Sisters welcomed her with much enthusiasm; Sr Maria Michaela adds a further international element to the Sisters of Charity of Miyazaki who, founded in 1937 by the Venerable Fr Cimatti with the direct assistance of Fr Antonio Cavoli, now number 1019  Sisters working in no fewer than 13 countries across 4 continents.
