1819 youths apply to Don Bosco Technical Schools for 2007-08 school year

SIHANOUKVILLE: August 27, 2007 --- 1,819 youths coming from most of the Cambodian provinces, came to Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville to apply for the Don Bosco Technical Schools last week. In Phnom Penh 1,400 applicants were interviewed while in the city port of Sihanoukville Don Bosco Tech interviewed 419 boys and girls. They came from provinces like Banteay Meanchey, Siem Riep, Stueng Streng, Svay Rieng and Koh Kong as far as Sihanoukville to join the two year technical skills course in order to get the best employment opportunities in Cambodia.
    The Don Bosco Technical Schools offer skills courses like electricity, general mechanics, auto mechanics, secretarial, hotel and tourism, and social communication.
    While Don Bosco Phnom Penh, located in Phnom Penh Tmey District, welcomes youth from all over the country, Don Bosco Sihanoukville has its influence in the south of Cambodia, although some youth come from other provinces.
    The applicants sat for an exam at the weekend. Don Bosco chooses teenagers aged 16-21 with a Grade Nine level, especially those coming from poor and marginalized circumstances, following the policies of this national and international institute and in coordination with the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
